SchoolFlo
I'm Chris Silva, an educator, photographer, designer, and builder with over 15 years of professional experience. I've worked across the United States, Japan, and México, capturing everything from weddings and portraits to commercial campaigns, motorsports, and the music industry. I co-own a photography and media production company with my wife Laura, who is also a photographer and educator.
These days I spend as much time designing and building as I do behind the lens: brand and print work, and the websites and classroom apps you'll find here on SchoolFlo. I like making things that are clean, fast, and genuinely useful. Much of how I see this work traces back to two men in my family.

My uncle Richard Martinez was a proud member of the Yaqui Nation, and he was the one who first placed a camera in my hands: a Nikon F3 he gave me before he passed. I still capture with it today and call it The Spirit Box, because every frame feels like a way to keep him with me. He showed me that image-making can honor memory, identity, and purpose, and that the people who shape us stay with us in what we make.
My Tío Alex, Alejandro Lopez, taught everyone. He was a jack of all trades: a mechanic, a contractor, a master electrician, and the list runs long. Whatever he knew, he passed on, and anyone who spent time with him walked away having learned something. The word can’t was not in his vocabulary, and it is not in mine. I carry that into my classroom every day: every young person can be reached.
I am honored to carry both of their legacies with me, in every frame I make and every student I reach.
